Some Lorain County
Records Can Be Found Online
Many people are surprised to discover
just how many records are available through the Clerk
of Court’s office. Some of the most common searches
have been made simpler thanks to the data being recorded
and published online. In particular, Lorain County divorce
records have been uploaded, so you can search for records
by first and last name at your convenience.
In the past, Lorain County divorce records were available
only by going in person to the office of the Clerk of
the Court of Common Pleas and making a formal request
for the data. Now, like many other counties across the
country, common public records like this are being made
available without an in person formal request being
necessary. By loading the data online, in fact, the
Clerk’s office can make the information available
to you even on weekends and holidays.
Lorain County divorce records are used when you apply
for a new marriage license, or when you need to prove
that you no longer have ties to your formal partner.
You may need it for insurance purposes, or to take care
of tax issues that arise over the years. Searchable
online records make it a snap to get the data you need
when you want to have it.
Of course, if you go in person to the Clerk’s
office, you can still get a notarized copy of your divorce
records. You can also do research there in the office,
which may be useful for genealogical searches since
you will be able to cross reference more quickly. However,
you will want to be aware of the limited hours being
kept by the physical office now that they have the information
online. Note that 8 – 10 am Monday – Friday
is blocked off for ticketing and docking, so you will
not be able to get records at that time in person. |
